Alcohol chaperones - a safeguard for business in the #MeToo era?

With news that Linklaters is introducing a sober supervisor scheme, could this be an initiative that other businesses and industries adopt to address and change workplace culture for the better?  Many professional services firms are looking at ways to tackle the City's long-standing drinking culture, to include more focus on events not driven by alcohol as well as putting in place conduct committees to oversee internal investigations.  I am sure we will see more and more businesses adopting such schemes.  Dry January seems set to be extended from a work perspective...

As well as requiring at least one supervisor to stay sober at events where alcohol is served, it is understood that Linklaters has been encouraging its teams to call time on social events that revolve around drinking as part of an effort to make the firm more inclusive for staff who do not want to take part.
