Call for evidence for disability employment gap

Back in July, the media was reporting on the disproportionate effect Coronavirus was having on certain groups within society, to include the disabled.  It is therefore pleasing to see that there is now a call for evidence for the disability employment gap.  This will look at trends, low employment rates, how the DWP can better help disabled people in the labour market and the impact of coronavirus.  This inquiry will catch up with those that have been (and are being done) in relation to gender and race.

Government figures show before the coronavirus outbreak 4.4 million disabled people were in employment, but were more than twice as likely to be unemployed as non-disabled people, according to disability charity Scope. It said it feared the so-called disability employment gap could get worse.
