Increasing workplace trade union involvement

One of the key policy goals of the Employment Rights Bill is to increase trade union involvement in the workplace. The Times today reports on the proposals for increasing awareness of the right to join a union by requiring employers to provide a summary of the statutory rights relating to union membership: https://www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/article/employment-rights-bill-pro-union-b9r3wrwm8.  Other proposals to allow unions access to workplaces will largely be used to secure sufficient support for union recognition and will be more onerous for employers. Employers can respond to the consultation by 18 December - Make Work Pay: Right of Trade Unions to Access Workplaces.  They can also start to think about how to prepare - which unions are likely to use these new access rights, what are their campaign issues, and are there any hot button issues employers can head off now?
